Petr Strnad /1964/ is a multimedia artist whose work weaves together memories, lived experiences, and reflections on the contemporary world around him.
He believes that true art emerges from harmonising the inner life of the artist with the final artistic result. His practice often conveys an illusion of calm and tranquillity, while beneath the surface lies a very different reality. Rather than focusing on objects themselves, Peter seeks to capture the abstract spaces that surround them—those unseen dimensions of perception, emotion, and thought.
Working across a wide spectrum of media, Petr explores the intersections between traditional and new forms. His visual language moves fluidly between analogue and digital photography, graphic design, painting, collage, and experimental mixed media. A defining feature of his work is the presence of randomness—expressed through halftones, geometric fragments, textures, and layered compositions—as a metaphor for transience, impermanence, and uncertainty in both time and space.
A significant chapter of Petr’s professional life lies in documentary, reportage, and editorial photography. In the early part of his career, he worked as a press photographer for several Czech newspapers, an experience that continues to inform his artistic vision. Photography remains a source of fascination and inspiration for him, a medium through which he still explores truth, memory, and storytelling.
